Research and professional interests

Norma McClellan is Professor Emeritus of Music Education at Missouri State University. Dr. McClellan, a member of the graduate faculty, taught numerous graduate classes: Introduction to Music Education, Elementary Music Methods Classes, Adaptive Music Methods and Classroom Instruments. She oversaw thesis preparation for graduate students and supervised student teachers in music. A former music teacher in Springfield Public Schools and frequent choral adjudicator and choir clinician, Dr. McClellan has directed numerous children's choirs for over 40 years and served one term as director of the Children's Choirs of Southwest Missouri. She has published studies related to children's music skills and effective teaching practices in several professional music journals and presented numerous workshops for area music teachers. Dr. McClellan has also served on the editorial board of Missouri Journal of Research in Music Education as well as the Board of Directors for Boys Choir of Springfield.
