Biography

Dr. Daniela Novotny is a faculty member in the nutrition and dietetics programs in the School of Health Sciences. She also works as a dietitian at Missouri State University's Magers Health and Wellness Center.

In her role as an educator, Novotny loves working with students to connect the dots between what they learn in the classroom and what they experience or will experience in “real-world” settings. She also enjoys guiding students through the research process, helping them understand and appreciate evidence-based practice. As a dietitian, she enjoys working with people to improve their nutritional status; her areas of specialty include improving one’s relationship with food and eating, optimizing gastrointestinal health through nutrition and providing medical nutrition therapy for a variety of health conditions.

Before joining Missouri State, Novotny worked as an outpatient dietitian for many years; this allowed her to develop strong skills in counseling, education and communication. She also stays active in the campus and local community by developing and implementing health/wellness programs.
