Research and professional interests

Dr. Julia T. Novakowski's current research analyzes teacher-student relationships through the lens of philosophy and history of education in order to inform a more inclusive teaching pedagogy. Her research also considers implications for educators focused on addressing issues of equity through the analysis and applications of pluralism, multiculturalism, and pragmatism in education.

Additional interests are in alternative models of schooling and how educational policy and cultural history have shaped innovation and creativity in education.
