Research and professional interests

Prior to pursuing a PhD, Michael Kyle was a sworn law enforcement officer for 11 years, including 4 years supervisory experience as a patrol sergeant in a Missouri sheriff's department and 3 years command staff experience as operations commander in a Kansas municipal police department. In the latter role, he led the investigations and administration sections, as well as administering professional standards (internal affairs). His research interests are focused on policing and include: law enforcement leadership, management, and operations; law enforcement ethics; and police officer behavior. Mike is also interested in public safety policy, juvenile delinquency, and juvenile justice.
